Seed Unto Seed – Occupy the Seed, first meeting on the roof
“Producing your own food, in my view, is the most important transition and everyone must become a seed saver: saving the seed in a pot, in a balcony. We should turn our rooftops into gardens which are seed sanctuaries because the seed, it is centuries of evolution, a gift of our ancestors and needs to be saved as a gift for future generations.”
– Dr Vandana Shiva, 20th September 2012
We had an opening meeting while planting wild flower seeds…planting also our vision of a free world and our intention of how we will create such a world. 40 people turned up in the SKY. And then we processed to Union Church for a very creative, vibrant and rich World Cafe around the 5 following questions:
- How will a citizen seed bank look like?
- What will I do to be part of the solution?
- What actions are already happening?
- What resources do we already have? What do we need?
- How will we regain seed freedom in the UK?
Harvesting of the meeting coming soon on our/your Facebook group: Occupy the Seed in London & Freedom Seed Bank.
And the very powerful freedom song from Caroline David called : Seed unto Seed writen for our meeting
Here are the words, sent to Vadana Shiva yesterday:
SEED UNTO SEED
CHORUS
In freedom’s name, in freedom claim
Seed unto seed, seed unto seed
In freedom sow, in freedom grow
Seed unto seed, seed unto seed
From age to age, from seed to seed,
From hand to hand, from deed to deed
This bounteous Earth each season feeds
Each season feeds her children’s children
Seeds of healing, seeds of health
These are the seeds of life itself
Their patent is the common wealth
The common wealth of our children’s children . . CHORUS
If you would break an honest man
Corrupt the seeds that green his land
Then bond him more than he can stand
And so enslave his children’s children
You men of shadows, you men of greed
What you sow you’ll not be here to reap
Death even now your legacy
Death unto our children’s children . . . CHORUS
Youseed in anger, you seed enraged
Defend the heirloom of our age
And vow that Seed shall never be a cage
Never be a cage for our children’s children
And when my body brings me down
Lay me in the seeds I’ve saved and found
So break the curse and bless the ground
Bless the ground for our children’s children . . . CHORUS
From age to age, from seed to seed,
From heart to hand, from prayer to deed
May bounteous Earth each season feed
Each season feed her children’s children . . . CHORUS
