Events for the summer…update
We’re sorry to report that we have decided to cancel the Summer Garden party that was scheduled for next Friday. We’ve been discussing the challenges as a team over the weekend, and feel the difficult weather conditions are a real hindrance to working on outdoor events at the moment.
We really wanted to join together with our community and celebrate with wonderful local food…so we’re planning to hold a big feast event after the holidays in early September instead.
More details will follow in the next couple of weeks…we’re confirming a date very soon…get ready to put it in your diary’s!
Other happenings…this week:
Wednesday 10am-1pm…work day with Sarah
- Please bring strong shoes, comfortable clothes and waterproofs.
Friday 9am-4pm…harvest and work day with Jack
- More hands are needed for harvest, so if you can get there early that would be great. No obligation to stay for the whole day.
The beautiful picture on the right shows a summer harvest from last year…though our tomatoes are still not ready this year, it’s been great to finally get some courgettes and beans to sell. It was only a few bags of beans and a couple of courgettes last week… but keep a look out in Budgens for increasing quantities available for purchase this week! Yum!
Last night FOOD from the SKY team attended the Best Before documentary premiere. It’s a great documentary about the current food system in crisis, and the need for a more sustainable food system. Best Before shows London as an example (problem and solution). The film showcases city farms (including a brief glimpse and mention of our roof), consumer cooperatives, farmer’s markets, community kitchens and the many creative ways in which communities around London are creating synergies to reduce dependency on the corporate food system, and produce, distribute and consume food in a sustainable, ecological and socially just way. Go and see it if you can, screening schedule is here.

It has been a difficult summer. Sorry it forced you to postpone your day. We were so lucky with our NGS open day at Bowbrook Allotment Community, We have had 2 dry days in July, the first coincided with our planned day to prepare the site and set up things for the day and the second was for the open day itself. Lots of visitors and lots of money sent to NGS. So we were oh so lucky!
Post about the day coming soon.

We’ve at least been lucky with all our Seed2seed course days being dry this year so far! Thankful for that!
